Experimental / Location-based web mashup

Melieu (a twist on “milieu,” the French word for “environment”) is a small programming exercise that depends on Google Maps and HTML5 for location information and gathers relevant geotagged submissions from Twitter, Youtube, and Flickr.

Google Maps locates and visualizes the user’s approximate location using a marker, and a total of thirty submissions made in the five mile radius of the user’s location are retrieved and displayed in a modular fashion. The user can also freely move the marker around the world map to explore different urban areas other than Toronto.
